Fresno Faucet Installation and Repair Services

Larry woke up this morning irritable from a bad night’s sleep. He was kept awake by a leaking faucet that would not stop dripping. He had every reason to be upset because not only was he losing precious sleep, but he was wasting water and money for as long as the problem remained.  Larry didn’t know it, but he was in desperate need of faucet installation and repair services.

Larry was fortunate that the dripping faucet alerted him to a larger problem. Others may not be so lucky. Faucets can also silently leak under the sink and behind the wall. Silent leaks are the worst because while you don’t have persistent dripping, water and money is being wasted, while expensive water damage may be taking place, for as long as leak persists.

Faucet Installation and Repair Service FAQ

Try tightening the faucet’s handle or adjusting the washer. If the leak persists, you may need to replace the washer or the entire faucet.

A dripping faucet is often caused by a worn-out washer or O-ring. You may need to replace these parts to stop the dripping.

To fix a leaky faucet, turn off the water supply and disassemble the faucet. Replace worn-out parts, such as the washer or O-ring, and reassemble the faucet.

How do you find the leak in a faucet?

Dripping faucets and leaks under your sink are often easy to find. Listen for dripping water or look for it pooling in the bathroom, kitchen sink, or cabinet.

To find hidden leaks, especially those you can’t access or even see the piping under your sink, look for these telltale signs, likely caused by a leak under your sink:

  • An earthy or musty smell from old, standing water.

  • Water Damaged walls or cabinet bottoms, especially in hard-to-find areas where you wouldn’t expect to find it.

  • Mildew or mold growing on or around your pipes or sink

  • In a multi-story house, look for a water stain on the ceiling below where a bathroom sink would be.

  • Dishwasher leaking under the sink.

The source of a leaking bathroom or kitchen faucet can be difficult to find, especially if you don’t know what to look for. Our plumbers can help you find that leaky faucet or sink and fix it. They can even replace that old faucet assembly with a more efficient, new faucet.

What causes a leaky faucet?

There are several reasons why your bathroom, kitchen, or laundry room faucet or sink would leak. Most often, the O-ring would crack or wear away, needing replacement.

An O-ring is a ⅜ to ⅝ inch rubber washer that seals the handle of your faucet assembly. When it wears away, water often leaks through it. Replacing a worn faucet O-ring replacement is simple, and can be performed using basic tools such as an adjustable wrench and slip joint pliers from the local hardware store. No specialized plumbing tools like a basin wrench are needed here.

The only exception is if you have a dripping, or leaky bathtub faucet or showerhead. The parts of the old faucet assembly or showerhead you need to access are behind a wall, or tiles, meaning you have to remove a portion of the wall, or tiles to access the repair area. If you have separate hot and cold water valves, there may be more wall or tiles to remove, meaning a more expensive repair.

When dealing with an old bathtub or shower faucet, it might be beneficial to install a new faucet for your bathtub or shower, to avoid incurring the repairs that often come with old plumbing fixtures.

The cause of your faucet leak is determined by what kind of faucet you have. There are four different kinds of faucets: ball, disc, compression, and cartridge faucets. Compression or ball faucets have an O-ring, while disc and cartridge faucets have a disc or cartridge that you will need to replace.

Additional reasons for a leak may be:

  • Old fixtures

  • Faulty pipes

  • Rust or corrosion, and

  • Worn washers or seals
